The National Wool Museum and the City of Greater Geelong announce the opening of the We the Makers Sustainable Fashion Prize, a biennial competition celebrating dynamic and diverse ethical fashion design. Emerging designers from around the world are invited to submit one ensemble that showcases their commitment to sustainable fashion practices.
Aligned with Geelong’s recognition as a UNESCO City of Design, the Museum is dedicated to honoring the past, present, and future of fashion while highlighting Geelong’s pivotal role in the wool and textile industries. We the Makers Sustainable Fashion Prize defines sustainable fashion holistically, promoting ethical practices, design innovation, material consciousness, and business sustainability.
The prize is open to designers with fewer than 10 years of industry experience, with submissions being accepted from 1 March – 15 April. Outfits will be judged by an expert panel based on their innovation in the following areas: material, circular process, design, or business.
All short-listed outfits are featured in an exhibition at the National Wool Museum with the winner being announced on June 13 at the exhibition opening. All short-listed outfits will go in the running to win the $2,000 UNESCO City of Design Peoples Choice Award.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a global movement shaping the future of sustainable fashion.
