Submissions are now open for the 2025 Bowness Photography Prize at the Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh).

This year celebrates the 20th anniversary of the prize, which sees a significant increase to its winnings, making it the richest cash prize for photography in Australia. The artist awarded the acquisitive Bowness Photography Prize in 2025 will receive $50 000, plus two Honourable Mentions will receive $2500 each in cash. All finalists will be paid a loan fee. The Wai Tang Commissioning Award continues, with one artist selected to receive $10 000 in cash and the opportunity to exhibit a body of work alongside next year’s Bowness Photography Prize exhibition of finalists.

MAPh welcomes curator Shaune Lakin and artist Anne Zahalka to the 2025 judging panel, joining MAPh Director Anouska Phizacklea.

Artists working with photography are invited to submit still photo-based media, including analogue and/or digital photography, for consideration.
