St Columba's Art Prize, with a prize pool of more than $11,000, offers artists a platform on which to share their work and celebrate the quest for self-expression and creativity.

The Inaugural St Columba’s Art Prize is an annual event that aims to showcase Australian artists, celebrate creativity and provide an opportunity for people of the Blue Mountains to engage with and experience exceptional art. The exhibition will be held in the historic St Columba’s Brauer Hall, an impressive space within the College’s heritage-listed main building. Artists will have the opportunity to host workshops and community talks during the exhibition period.

There are two prize categories:

Open Prize worth $10,000 is non-acquistive for artists over the age of 18, and a current permanent resident of Australia.

Youth Prize worth $1,000 for young artists aged 12 to 19 years (currently enrolled in school) is also non-acquisitive.

Open to Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Ceramics, Textiles, Printmaking with the exception of photography, digital works, video and ai generated. There is no specified theme.

This year’s judges are:

Catherine O’Donnell – contemporary artist, Sarah Birtles – director of Sarah Birtles Art + Advice, and Dr Clare Nicholson – materialist sculptor, painter and educator.
