Arts in the Valley is a community organisation, umbrella for three types of events conducted in the historic village of Kangaroo Valley – music, Visual Arts and Sculpture in the Valley. The latter is a biennial event that will be held again this spring. It is expected to attract up to 3,000 visitors to the valley over the first two weekends in September.
It will be curated again this year by well-known sculptor David Ball. It typically shows off some large-scale and thrilling sculptures viewed against a scenic backdrop. Small scale works are also on show, this time within a re-purposed heritage cow shed. There is a competition with non-acquisitive prizes to be judged by Philip Spelman and Penny Harris. The sculptures are available for sale and: “yes, commissions occur”.
Sculpture in the Valley 2025 will build on the success of the 2023 event. It will be held again on private acreage. Two adjoining properties have been chosen providing the necessary convenient access and landscape qualities. They sit alongside Barrengarry Creek with marvellous views of the soaring sandstone escarpments for which the valley is known. And they sit close to Kangaroo Valley township. “What more could you ask for?”
