Are you a performing artist aged 18 – 35yrs residing in Naarm on the Sovereign lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nation? Are you a Femme from a Global First Nations Background? Are you ready to delve into the process of creating with the genre defying Hot Brown Honey? Then we got you!
Hive City Legacy – Naarm Chapter is a guided, process driven project for Black, Indigenous, and POC (BIPOC) Femmes aged 18–35yrs to develop storytelling skills, amplify voices and centre lived experiences through professional development, mentorship and collective collaboration. Culminating in a performance season at Melbourne Arts Centre’s Show Room, the project explores the global conversations on race, gender, identity, body image, decolonisation and more through performance making. Created by the award-winning Hot Brown Honey (Helpmann, Green Rooms, UK Total Theatre Award for Innovation, Experimentation and Playing with Form), this collaborative, intersectional project has been presented in London in partnership with The Roundhouse and Dublin in partnership with Dublin Fringe Festival. In 2025 the project is coming to Naarm in partnership with Quiet Riot Creative and Multicultural Arts Victoria.
Whether you’re a singer, writer, dancer, poet, music maker, MC, comedian or performing artist of any kind, Hive City Legacy – Naarm Chapter is the opportunity to learn, create, collaborate and celebrate. Via an online application and interview process, Hot Brown Honey are seeking to fill six positions for Collaborating/Performing Artists. Hive City Legacy – Naarm Chapter is a paid project. 5wk Contract/4days per week. Hours vary. LPA rates – $960.00pw/$4,800.00 total contract per Artist.
