MADE IN CHINATOWN is a commissioning program run by the Museum of Chinese in Australia to support Chinese Australian creatives to make new and original work. For the first Made in Chinatown commission, MOCA is seeking an original artwork depicting the Chinese Zodiac for 2025, the Wood Snake.

This opportunity is open to professional and amateur creatives at any stage of their career/practice who identify as a person of Chinese heritage, ancestry or cultural origin. All applicants must be either an Australian citizen or currently reside in Australia, and be aged 15 years and over.

Entrants may submit work as a digital illustration or as digital scans of physical work.

The total value of the commission is $10,000.00 (plus GST if applicable). In return, the successful applicant will grant MOCA an exclusive licence for the reproduction of the image for a two-year period on a range of Museum communications, including on digital and print signage, MOCA’s website and social media platforms, and on merchandise.
The closing date for this commission is 31 December 2024.
