Project Background

Wyndham City Council is inviting expressions of interest from artists to have their artwork permanently displayed at Ironbark Fields. This project is open to artists who do not have experience in mural installation. Shortlisted artists for concept development will be required to attend a 30-minute Cultural Value session with Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation facilitated by council. This is an opportunity to ensure the concept being developed is in line with local culture and history.

Bunurong and other First Nations artists are strongly encouraged to apply.

Project Objectives

  • The proposed artwork will be installed on the pavilion wall facing the training pitch at Ironbark Fields, located at 1275 Leakes Rd, Tarneit VIC 3029. The wall is 45.2m (w) x 4.4 – 5.4m (h). More information about the site location, measurements and other details can be found in the attached Guidelines & FAQ and Artist Brief documents.
  • To improve community connection to the area and deepen an understanding of the place through truth-telling and/or story-telling.
  • To be inclusive of community members and easily resonated.

A project working group will shortlist three (3) artists for initial concept proposals with a $2,000 payment for each artist. A further $15,000 AUD (ex GST) is provided to the final Artist for artwork licencing, liaison with installer, travel, artwork launch, etc. The Artist will not be responsible for any of the costs or coordination of the install, including lift hire, materials, labour and permits.

Apply here by 5pm on Monday the 17th of March
