Expressions of Interest (EOIs) open 2 November – 28 November 2024
Brimbank City Council is seeking to commission a significant work (or works) that take a fresh, innovative, and conceptual approach to public art within the historically significant HV McKay Memorial Gardens. The Council is looking for an artwork which is aesthetically, intellectually, and possibly but not necessarily, physically engaging for residents and visitors. The artwork should be well-designed and create an opportunity for public users to encounter and engage with art in their daily lives. Possible themes to explore are the environment, leisure, or local history.
Up to three respondents from the open EOI process will be shortlisted and will receive compensation to develop a design for the artwork in line with the provided guidelines.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to design, fabricate, and install a permanent artwork or series of artworks at the HV McKay Memorial Gardens. The contemporary artwork aims to harmonise with the site’s historic form and character, conveying a concept deeply rooted in the local environment, culture, and history.
