Applications are invited from artists throughout Australia.

Artists are well positioned to provoke meaningful dialogue around the threats to forests in a way that can bring people together for further discussion, exploration, and activation.

When we are thinking of forests, we are referring to an area, incorporating all living and non-living elements that are dominated by trees. This includes thinking about the diverse native forests and plantations, regardless of age and encompasses areas of trees that are sometimes described as woodlands.

Artists are being invited from throughout Australia to share in bringing a lens of focus on the world’s forests, the need for their safe keeping and preservation inclusive of the wildlife within.  We call on artists to embrace their imagination to raise awareness, provoke dialogue, political activism, boldness, experimentation, thoughtfulness, playfulness, or deep contemplation.

We welcome contributions from all ages, viewpoints, and level of experience. Artists working in any stage of their creative practice be it for the first time, as a professional or hobbyist are welcomed to submit work exploring this theme on a postcard (100 x 150mm).  This includes drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. Works MUST be on card as if it were to be sent as a postcard.

All works will be eligible for consideration of the $500 People’s Choice Award.

Entries are due midnight Monday 21 October with all works to be received by no later than 4pm Friday 29 November 2024.
