Byron Shire Council is calling for expressions of interest from artists to explore the theme of:

Rising: The growing urgency and consciousness to meet climate challenges.

Amidst soaring temperatures, swelling oceans, and escalating natural disasters, Earth’s fragile equilibrium hangs in the balance. The theme Rising reflects the need to embrace our role as environmental stewards and unite in collective action.

Artists are invited to submit innovative project ideas that will engage the community and can be presented around this theme at the Lone Goat Gallery in 2025. The successful artist or artists will receive a fee of $5,000 to develop new work (plus additional funds for events and programs) and a one-month exhibition at Lone Goat Gallery, Byron Bay, in 2025.

‘Climate Conversations’ is an initiative of Lone Goat Gallery and Byron Shire Council inviting artists to explore climate-related projects. Artists are encouraged to consider ways their project can engage with the community through  creative collaboration, participation and activities, and how their project will generate important  conversations in community.

Applications close at 5pm on 1 November 2024.
