The 2023 winner of the prestigious acquisitive $20,000 Clarence Prize was Patrick Adeney for his piece Winslow Armchair. Expertly crafted from Tasmanian blackwood, danish paper cord, and brass, the Winslow Armchair was selected from a shortlist of fifteen finalists who were invited to present their realised designs for exhibition and judging at Rosny Barn.
Clarence City Council Mayor Brendan Blomeley officially announced Patrick as the winner of the 2023 Prize to a capacity crowd at the Official Opening Event held at Clarence City Council’s historic Rosny Barn.
Two additional non-acquisitive prizes were also awarded to worthy recipients. The non-acquisitive $1500 Highly Commended Prize to Liam Starcevich for his Rhobie Dresser, and the non-acquisitive $1500 Emerging Designer Prize to Melvin Josy for the Vallum Seat.
PRIZES
One acquisitive prize of $20,000 will be awarded to the winner as selected by the judging panel. The work will be acquired into the Clarence Art Collection.
One non-acquisitive prize of $1,500 will be awarded for a work that is highly commended by the judges.
One non-acquisitive encouragement award of $1,500 will be made to an emerging designer as selected by the judging panel.
Interstate finalists are eligible to receive up to $500 towards freighting their final entry to Rosny Farm.

The closing date for entries and accompanying documentation is Midnight 14 April 2025. Applications received after this date will not be considered. All entries are to be submitted electronically.
