The City of Subiaco is seeking artists creating functional or utilitarian public artwork. This might be lighting, seating, shade, art utilising living plants – or any artwork serving both a practical and aesthetic use. It is important the artwork be robust, able to endure outdoors long term in WA’s high UV, windy conditions.
The City of Subiaco is undertaking a number of laneway upgrades in the coming years and would like to identify a pool artists who may wish to collaborate with our landscape designers and staff on relevant projects as they arise. Our intent is to work flexibly with a selected artist or artist team from the outset of the design phase of the project through to completion to ensure the best outcome for both artwork and project. We are open to working with artists based nationally, where budget allows.
If you have previous work which meets this brief, please send through the following any time before June 1, 2025 to PublicArtOfficer@subiaco.wa.gov.au:
- Link to your bio
- URL links to up to 6 relevant previous artworks, identifying your role on each artwork along with any information you think helpful (previous experience is essential).
- Referees (optional at this stage).
Short EOIs welcome. Multiple opportunities exist. We can’t guarantee everyone who applies will be selected as the needs for each project can be quite specialised and budgets for each project will vary.
Please contact us directly if you would like to talk this through. Examples of previous laneway projects undertaken in Subiaco integrating artwork include Walmsley Lane; Postal Walk; and Forrest Walk.
