Belco Arts is seeking an artist to develop and deliver a permanent entry statement artwork to welcome the public into the new Gungahlin Community and Youth Centre. The artwork can spread over the entry awnings and high-level glazing on the exterior of the building, with the option to wrap around inside the centre and transition into a wall mural in the community centre foyer.
The Gungahlin Community Centre has been developed using a co-design approach with input from key local stakeholders. It is designed to be a place for community to come together, connect and access a wide range of facilities, activities and supports.
It will welcome all members of Gungahlin’s diverse community, including First Nations community, young people, multicultural groups, community program participants, children and families and others who are connected to the region. The entry statement will support this diverse community to feel a sense of belonging, safety and connection as they enter the building.
