Dedicated to fostering the appreciation and experience of art, this residency requires the selected artist to immerse themselves in the remote, rugged and beautiful East Pilbara and its communities while exploring the theme of ‘light’.
Art at the Heart offers an opportunity for unbounded cultural exchange over a six to eight week residency. Drawing inspiration from the East Pilbara, the artist will share their creative talents and insights through a program of local community engagement while developing their own arts practice.
The chance to creatively manifest the experience of the East Pilbara is a tantalising prospect for any artist. That challenge is tangibly demonstrated by the extraordinary works created in the residency’s previous years.
Art at the Heart is supported by a $15,000 artist fee, with an additional $40,000 available to fund community engagement projects, artistic development and a legacy gift.
If you believe you have the passion for developing and sharing your own artistic practice in this beautiful, unique and challenging region then the Shire of East Pilbara would like to hear from you.
Applications close on 29 February, 2016. For more read here: http://www.eastpilbara.wa.gov.au/our-region/art-at-the-heart
