NIDA has trained many of Australia’s top actors, artists and creative professionals. But you don’t have to be a budding Blanchett to get a taste of training at the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
These holidays, NIDA Open is offering a national winter program of courses for those looking to unleash their creative side.
From 27 June to 19 July, NIDA’s talented and experienced tutors will travel around the country, presenting a range of performing arts classes in capital cities and regional centres across Australia.
For those who would like to live dangerously – but only in their imaginations – Heroes, Villains and Spies is a course to develop acting skills and performance for the camera. For aspiring filmmakers, The NIDA Games is a course where participants work with a professional filmmaker to develop a short film.
There are also classes in acting, comedy, design, directing, filmmaking, lighting, make-up, movement, musical theatre, voice and writing.
Caroline Spence, Head of NIDA Open said that all the classes provide opportunities for people of all ages to harness their imaginations and explore potential creative outlets.
‘The winter program offers something for everyone and for every skill-level. For children and young people they can jump in and try something brand-new or build their skills, and for our adults this is a great opportunity to focus on a particular area or brush-up on audition techniques.’
She continued to explain that whatever the medium, the courses enabled participants to ‘find their creative voice’ through fun performing arts experiences.
‘No matter the course, NIDA Open classes engage the senses, inspire the imagination and encourage creativity,’ promised Spence.
The NIDA Open winter school holiday program runs from 27 June to 19 July. For more information, visit the website.
