The City of Stonnington will open its Arts and Cultural Grants Program 2016/17 in March, and calls on artists and arts organisations to deliver engaging, creative and contemporary projects that enhance the cultural, community and economic development of the City.

Comprising the suburbs of Windsor, Prahran, Toorak, South Yarra, Armadale, Malvern, Malvern East, Glen Iris and Kooyong, Stonnington is home to a range of leading indoor and outdoor venues and performance spaces.

The City of Stonnington is committed to nurturing and fostering excellence in the arts and to providing community access to a broad range of genres.

The grants, which total $425,000 for the financial year, aim to support independent, emerging, early and mid-career artists working across all art forms.  The program also extends to arts organisations, community groups and auspiced individuals who wish to bring artworks to the area as well as festivals.

Recipient of the 2014/15 Arts and Cultural grant, the Melbourne Cabaret Festival’s Artistic Director Mike McLeish said he was thrilled with the partnership, ‘Having quadrupled in size in our first five years, the time is right to align ourselves with Stonnington and share in our growth.’

Applicants are not required to be a resident of the City of Stonnington but the project or activity must take place within the municipality.

The City welcomes all art forms and the Arts and Cultural Grants program opens in March for funding of projects and activities taking place in the 2016/17 financial year. For more information about the grants, visit the City of Stonnington website.
