Gorkem Acaroglu is the Creative Producer/CEO of Melbourne Workers Theatre. In 2010 Gorkem implemented the company’s new vision and commitment to documentary theatre. She has forged a solid reputation directing acclaimed socially relevant theatre productions such as The Habib Show (2006) about the media reportage of Mamdouh Habib’s release from Guantanamo Bay, Haneef the Interrogation (2008) about the Federal Police’s first use of the Terror Laws and Yet to Ascertain the Nature of the Crime (2010) about attacks against Indian students. Gorkem has a long-standing commitment to bringing otherwise unseen perspectives to Australian stages having worked with a diverse range of professional Australian artists.
