The theme of this year’s NAIDOC week (8-15 July) is “Because of Her, We Can!”, celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s contribution to their community, families, and our rich history and nation.
The NAIDOC website says of this year’s theme: ‘They are our mothers, our elders, our grandmothers, our aunties, our sisters and our daughters. Sadly, Indigenous women’s role in our cultural, social and political survival has often been invisible, unsung or diminished.
