With what seems to be a worrying trend in Australia at the moment, The Ballarat University’s TAFE art division has been slogged with major funding cuts in an effort to renegotiate governmental spending.

A memo was sent out to staff last week informing them of the changes, further explaining how only a minute fraction of the courses currently offered were expected to continue. Of the various disciplines offered by Ballarat University’s TAFE, only graphic design was expected to survive. Disciplines facing the guillotine are visual arts, performance, music and ceramics.
