In the four months since Victoria’s State government cut health funding to the support service sector, hundreds of health workers have lost their jobs as community arts and culture outreach programs across the state now risk falling through the cracks.
Reforms by the Department of Health scrapped the Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation and Support Services (PDRSS) funding program back in June, and the 105 organisations who delivered therapeutic arts programs across the state has dropped to a meagre 14.
