Gender fellow proposals not ‘sufficiently interesting’

Applicants for a new gender fellowship have all been rejected because proposals were not original enough but the fellowship has not been cancelled.

In January 2017 the Australian Book Review (ABR) introduced the inaugural Fellowship: the ABR Gender Fellowship worth $7,500. 

ABR invited writers, scholars, and critical commentators to submit proposals for a substantial article on gender in contemporary Australian creative writing in all its forms. However, unsuccessful applicants were recently notified that although the panel had received a number of interesting proposals they would not be awarding the fellowship this time around.
