In January 2017 the Australian Book Review (ABR) introduced the inaugural Fellowship: the ABR Gender Fellowship worth $7,500.
ABR invited writers, scholars, and critical commentators to submit proposals for a substantial article on gender in contemporary Australian creative writing in all its forms. However, unsuccessful applicants were recently notified that although the panel had received a number of interesting proposals they would not be awarding the fellowship this time around.
