Bangarra rekindles culture through youth dance

The Wiradjuri people in the central NSW town of Wellington were the first to participate in selection workshops for Bangarra Dance Theatre’s ambitious Rekindling program that will be delivered to Indigenous young people in urban, regional and remote communities across Australia. The program aims to cultivate in each participant a deep sense of pride and responsibility in their roles as future custodians of their culture. Headed by Bangarra Youth Program Director Sidney Saltner, Rekindling intends to connect Indigenous young people, their families and communities with the traditional knowledge, language, story and land of their backgrounds.
