Wikipedia has a diversity problem. The free online encyclopaedia containing almost five million articles but a disproportionate number are written by young, white men.
Less than 13 per cent of Wikipedia’s contributors are women, leading to content that is inevitably skewed towards that which interests the demographic of the contributors.
Many articles on notable women in history and art are absent, less detailed or being removed from dominant artist lists. One s example of such bias is women writers being removed from the American Novelists category to be placed on a separate American Women Novelists subcategory.
