Hexa Flexa by Amie Anderson considers the way in which the digital age and capitalism has shaped a new kind of 21st century self.
For Natalya Maller, the constant peddling of both herself and her artwork made her feel like one of the comical inflatable ‘tube men’ or ‘air dancers’ we see as promotional material out the front of used car yards. Because Maller couldn’t afford to buy an air dancer to use in her artwork, she made the piece ‘I couldn’t afford an air dancer at $695, for the forthcoming MU$CLE exhibition at the George Paton Gallery.
