There’s more to motivating crowdsource donors than impressing them with your project or coming up with great rewards. A study by the Australia Council has key motivations for donating to crowdsource projects and key barriers that limit contributions.

The research report for Artsupport was based on a literature review and interviews with 17 stakeholders who have used crowdfunding in Australia. Professor Helen Klaebe and doctoral candidate Rebecca Laycock of Queensland University of Technology conducted the project. The researchers found donors were motivated by a mixture of personal, ideological and practical considerations.
