Sleeping on the beach – for many – may be synonymous with a drunken adventure where the sound of waves punctuates an alcohol-fuelled slumber, but composer Lawrence English is going for the opposite effect in his new work, Wave Fields.
The piece is a one-off experience as part of Bleach* Festival, where participants are invited to spend a restful night sleeping at Burleigh Heads beach accompanied by English, who will perform a 10-hour durational sound piece comprised of atmospheric recordings and live instrumentation.
