If you’re not in a gig it can be financially painful to visit the box office. A Saturday night at a main stage  Sydney Theatre Company (STC) show can set you back $105, plus a $7 booking fee.

For a performer, particularly one who is likely ‘between jobs’ if free to go the theatre, the price of seeing one’s peers at work can be prohibitive. That’s a problem not only because the individual misses out but also because the input of peers is so important.
