Next week Queensland Writer’s Centre is trying something of an experiment as part of marking their 20th anniversary. It’s an inside out festival, one with no artistic director, that’s not centrally programmed, and its not based in one place but completely spread around the whole state. They’re calling it Queensland Writers’ Week.

And it’s not, like a lot of other “week’s”, an awareness campaign either. It’s not about waving the Queensland writing flag for a public audience saying ‘hey, there’s great stuff going on here’, although that would be a great by-product.
