Halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide in the wheat belt plains of the Wimmera sits Natimuk, a town with a recorded census population of just 449 people.
But for Martin Bride, Chair of Arapiles Community Theatre in Natimuk, bringing work from outside the tiny town is not the essence of regional arts. ‘Our aim is not just to bring art to the regions but to give people opportunities to make work with us, or offer them high quality artistic experiences. It’s a two way street, we energize them (Non-Natimukian artists and audiences) and they energize us,’ he said.
