Many established publishers are embedded in a habitual practice that places the novel on the ultimate pedestal, but a new group of independent publishers and literary agents are experimenting with zines, promoting new writers, producing podcasts and delivering to digital platforms.
‘There is plenty of room to innovate and throw out old ways of working… it’s necessary to attract new readers,’ said Sam Twyford-Moore, outgoing director of the Emerging Writers’ Festival.
