For such a creative bunch, arts organisations can be surprisingly reluctant when it comes to changing the way they operate. While small organisations and independent artists can be agile and innovative, majors contend with large institutional ships that are hard to turn,  rusted-on subscriber lists and conservative benefactors whom they cannot afford to gainsay.
