In recent years, festivals have started curating one-off online events or experiences, such as Sydney Festival’s digital work The Book of Sand. The online component of these festivals usually supplements the ‘physical take over’ that a festival can stage across city streets and suburbs.
But the Digital Writers’ Festival (on 1-11 November) – an offshoot of the Emerging Writers’ Festival – exists solely in the online space. Now in its third iteration, it’s an online festival that brings writers together through a series of online events, workshops and collaborative programs with no associated live component.
