How does Australia fit globally in performing arts

Until you’re faced with a conference room filled with representatives of the industry, the size, scale and sheer diversity of the global performing arts market can be hard to comprehend. Even harder is grasping how Australia is placed on the world stage.

During his presentation at LIVE Unplugged Andrew Kay, President of Live Performance Australia said the live performance market in Australia is worth around $1.8b with 15 million in tickets a year. That makes it a substantial market he argued, vibrant and mature. But that’s internally; as an exporter we are very small.
