Getting the right head shot

Sure you don’t want to be judged on your looks alone but for performers a head shot is essential and even for a visual artist or manager it is important to making a great first impression.

Head shots are your opening salvo in any contact with a potential employer, whether a casting agent, director or manager.

 
 

‘If you have a crappy head shot the client won’t even look at you – you could be a great actor and never get considered. With an ineffective head shot the door won’t even get opened,’ said Charmaine Gilchrist from Gilchrist Management in NSW.
