When the new financial year ticks over many artists are too busy huddling indoors, stooped over paintings or their latest novel to give much consideration to the arduous task of completing a tax return.

In fact, for people working in the arts, many of whom are either below the tax-free threshold, or who have numerous deductions and a shoebox full of receipts to sort through, tax is something that is often put on the back-burner.
