Detail of Richard’s belt – a Holocaust survivor photographed by Hedy Ritterman for The Gift at MoAD; supplied
The Holocaust, and refugee immigration – they are as big as topics get, and yet a new exhibition at the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) in Canberra manages to open up a conversation from an incredibly distilled and potent position.
The Gift: Art, Artefacts and Arrivals has been developed by The Curator’s Department in collaboration with MoAD, and presents a proposition by just four artists – to choose an object and let it tell a very personal but reflective story of immigration, and its gift.
