Situated at the bottom of the southern-most state on the saltwater Derwent River, Hobart’s identity is shaped by its history as an isolated port city. From the colonial days of whaling and seafarers to its status today as a stop-off for cruise ships and as the departure point for Antarctica, it’s all about water, one way or other.
