5 photo exhibitions against the status quo

With PHOTO 2022 well underway, ArtsHub looks at the five exhibitions that are pushing boundaries and challenging the conventional lens.

Housed in the Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP), Queering the Frame features artists Brook Andrew, J Davies, Helen Grace, Samuel Hodge, Shannon May Powell and The Huxleys in a well-rounded celebration of queer love and alternative stories.

The exhibition traces queer history from 70s up till the present with diverse voices, including the documentation of Amazon Acres, the female-only commune, by Helen Grace and Brook Andrew’s works capturing queer Indigenous joy in the 90s.
