Volunteer Coordinator

The Ballarat International Foto Biennale seeks a Volunteer Coordinator to support the upcoming festival.

The Ballarat International Foto Biennale is seeking a highly organised, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Volunteer Coordinator to manage all aspects of volunteer engagement for the 2025 festival. This role offers the opportunity to work independently, with flexible hours, and a hybrid work arrangement. However, the Volunteer Coordinator must be based in Ballarat during the festival period, which runs from 23 August to 19 October 2025.

This is a part-time role, expanding to full-time with the expectation that the appointee will live in Ballarat or surrounds and be available to work in person at the Ballarat Foto offices.

The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Volunteer recruitment and engagement.
  • Volunteer training and support.
  • Festival preparation for the volunteer cohort.
  • Volunteer schedule and rostering.
  • Evaluation and reporting.

Required skills and experience:

  • experience in volunteer management, human resources or event coordination.
  • strong organisational and time-management ability.
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desireable skills and experience:

  • experience with the Better Impact software platform.
  • prior work experience in the arts or cultural sector.
  • past volunteer coordination experience.

This is a part-time contract position with flexible hours and the capacity to work from home as needed during the preparation phase.

The role transitions to full-time during the festival period (23 August–19 October 2025), requiring the Volunteer Coordinator to be based in Ballarat.
