Venue Services Officer - Front of House

This VSO role forms part of the Presenter Services Team responsible for all front of house, bar, and client administration support for events.
Darebin Arts Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated Venue Services Officer to join our fabulous core team in a full time capacity. The annual salary is $63,747.32 + superannuation.
Duties
Customer Service
• Provide friendly, focused and flexible customer service that is prompt, accurate, courteous and consistent to clients, customers and patrons
• Respond positively to enquiries and requests in a calm and professional manner
• Assist with venue tasks as required, including box office / reception duties
• Act as a member of the FOH/bar team for events held at Darebin Arts Centre
FOH / Bar Duties
• Act as FOH and/or Bar staff as required according to procedures, ensuring food handling and FOH policies and practices, and Liquor Licensing laws and the requirements of responsible serving of alcohol are complied with
• Ensure the Venue is safe, clean, attractive and welcoming
• Communicate any issues, incidents, feedback or suggestions through the appropriate channels.
• Accept deliveries, verify stock received against dockets, and log updates in POS system
• Assist with ordering, purchasing and maintaining stock levels of bar supplies, kitchen provisions, and venue consumables
• Conduct regular stocktakes to ensure accurate inventory tracking
• Assist with POS system reconciliations
• Clean and maintain bar equipment
• Maintain and update standard operating procedures and safe work method statements for bar equipment
Administration
• Provide administrative assistance across the venue as required
• Maintain and update event information in the appropriate system
• Create and distribute Front of House (FOH) Event Briefs for the FOH team to run events
• Update and manage venue signage, digital foyer screens and promotional materials including posters and social media updates via the Marketing and Ticketing teams.
• Periodically update staff training and compliance register, including certification expiry dates (First Aid, RSA, WWCC) and venue safety checklists
• Coordinate waste collection scheduling with contracted service provider
Venue maintenance and setup:
• Perform daily venue resets including replenishing office, venue and kitchen supplies, cleaning common areas, and resetting foyer and event spaces
• Setup rooms according to booking requirements and event specifications
• Support event logistics by coordinating with technical staff for A/V needs, seating configurations and venue accessibility adjustments
• Conduct monthly venue OHS walkarounds and report findings to Presenter Services Supervisor
Skills & Experience
• Working knowledge of the customer service requirements and Front of House services of an arts centre or cultural facility
• Previous experience working in a community, cultural, arts, hospitality or entertainment industry venue, particularly in customer service or similar role
• A working knowledge of front-of-house equipment used for performing arts, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, meetings and functions.
• A knowledge of evacuation/emergency procedures, fire regulations and safety issues.
• An ability to understand security requirements for public buildings and a commitment to implementing security procedures and practices.
• Current certification and working knowledge of the responsible service of alcohol in line with the venue’s Liquor Licence
Qualifications, Certificates, Licences, and/or Experience
• At least one year’s experience in face-to-face customer service delivery, cash handling and food and beverage operations.
• Experience in a cultural facilities environment
• Current Level 2 Workplace First Aid
• Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate
• A current Victorian Working with Children Card
• Food Safety Supervisor certificate (desirable)
• Experience using Lightspeed POS system (desirable)
