POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Development & Engagement Manager leads ACCA’s fundraising, grants and marketing objectives, overseeing a team of two coordinators, working in consultation with ACCA’s Executive team.

This key role works to achieve ACCA’s fundraising targets through individual giving and corporate partnerships, supporting the Artistic Director and CEO, and Board with the Major Gifts Strategy, as well as through strategic proposals and grant applications to government, trusts and foundations.

The role also manages and oversees effective marketing, communications and digital strategies for ACCA in order to promote ACCA’s vision, programs and identity and involve, retain and build audiences, participants and supporters.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual Giving

  • In consultation with ACCA’s Executive and Board, establish an annual plan for prospecting, engagement and stewardship activities across the year to achieve or exceed ACCA’s annual giving target
  • With the Development Team, develop, deliver and evaluate fundraising methodology and strategies, including Major Gifts Strategy and oversee fundraising intiatives including End of Financial Year campaign, annual renewals, new pledges and increased support
  • Lead the Development team’s research, identification, prioritising and stewardship of new, existing and lapsed donors. Monitor and nurture all relationships, including overseeing appropriate donor recognition and engagement
  • Oversee successful database management and use of Salesforce, ensuring accuracy, developing customised event invitation lists, views and reports 
  • Prepare reports for the Board, Development Committee and Executive as required. Actively contribute to Development sub-committee meetings
  • Manage budgets in areas of responsibility, ensuring all financial and policy matters are managed in strict accordance with policies and procedures
  • Maintain awareness of current practices in philanthropy in Australia and overseas, and ensure that the Individual Giving Program is managed within the rules associated with Deductible Gift Recipient status

Corporate Giving

  • In consultation with ACCA’s Executive, establish an annual plan for prospecting, engagement and stewardship of corporate partners to achieve or exceed ACCA’s annual giving target
  • Lead the engagement strategy for Corporate Giving and ensure appropriate recognition and delivery of partnership benefits is actioned for all partners

Grants and Government Funding

  • In consultation with ACCA’s Executive, manage the preparation of high-quality submissions, reports and/or acquittals for philanthropic grants and multi-year government funding 
  • Maintain and develop ACCA’s effective and positive relationships with trusts and foundations and other funders, ensuring accurate acknowledgment and compliance with funding agreements

Event Management

  • Plan and deliver high quality unique events, including ACCA exhibition tours, offsite dinners, studio visits, etc., and represent ACCA at events and functions, engaging with donors and prospective supporters
  • Plan and deliver interstate and international ACCA Art Tours, preparing itineraries and information packs, liaising with participants and making necessary arrangements

Marketing and Communications

  • Manage the implementation of ACCA’s marketing and engagement strategies and ensure consistency of ACCA’s voice, brand and identity across all platforms, including website, social media, EDMs and advertising, to engage of ACCA’s diverse audiences
  • Oversee and steward relationships with Media Partners to leverage maximum advertising value for the promotion of ACCA’s exhibitions and programs
  • Oversee advertising deadlines for ACCA’s Designer to ensure artwork is delivered on time, to spec and in line with ACCA’s brand

Other Duties

  • Represent ACCA at high-level meetings with key stakeholders, donors and colleagues, and other forums and events, and cultivate good relationships with relevant personnel
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Artistic and Executive Directors
  • Attend after-hours events as required

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in philanthropy, fundraising and coordination of philanthropic program activities in a senior role within an art-based institution or similar context (such as academic, cultural and community sectors)
  • Experience in developing and executing successful marketing and promotional campaigns to engage diverse audiences
  • Exemplary written and spoken presentation and communication skills, with an eye for detail
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise, work efficiently to deadlines and manage direct reports
  • Experience in database/CRM management (e.g. Salesforce) and working with programs and platforms, such as WordPress, MailChimp/Campaign Monitor, Meta, Microsoft and Adobe Suites
  • Sound knowledge of philanthropic networks, funding bodies and frameworks, preferably in the visual arts sector
  • Flexibility to undertake out-of-hours work as required
  • Tertiary qualification in Philanthropy and/or Arts Management, Visual Arts, Business Studies, Marketing and Communications, or other humanities or equivalent preferred
