Melbourne Fringe Festival
Program Manager (Access Fringe)
Be the change-maker Melbourne Fringe needs!
Are you keen to push the boundaries on accessibility and help build an arts scene that’s accessible and welcoming to all? Melbourne Fringe is searching for a passionate and innovative producer or arts manager to step into the newly created Program Manager (Access Fringe) role.
Access Fringe is a program focused on rethinking cultural equity and redefining what inclusivity can mean. The Program Manager (Access Fringe) will be a catalyst for change, working to make the arts truly accessible to d/Deaf, Disabled, and Neurodivergent artists and audiences.
Why This New Role?
Because as much as we see ourselves as leading change in access and inclusivity, there’s still a long way to go. We need someone who’s passionate about access and excited by bold ideas to join our enthusiastic team of movers and shakers. If you’re still reading then it’s likely there’s a you-shaped hole in our team just waiting to be filled.
This role will work alongside Carly Findlay (Melbourne Fringe Access Advisor) and our Access Fringe Cultural Equity Consultant (a new specialist consulting position – we can’t announce who just yet, but trust us, you’re going to like them). Collectively these three crucial and bright people will deliver the Access Fringe program, including the transformative Radical Access initiative.
What You’ll Do
1. Empower Artists: Be the go-to person for artists from d/Deaf, Disabled, and Neurodivergent communities, providing creative, professional and logistical advice. You’ll support our artists to bring their creative visions to life by managing resources, microgrants and workshops and you’ll build community by facilitating artist connections.
2. Elevate Audience Experience: Provide our artists and venues (including our in-house producers!) with everything they need, to work towards access services that put audiences in control of their Fringe experience. Help to finesse our process to ensure audiences are empowered with the information they need and they have their access needs met.
3. Drive our Radical Access program: Flex your producer muscles and deliver a series of international conversations about cultural equity and rethinking what accessibility in the arts means, work closely in support of our Radical Access Commissions, and help generate innovative ideas on ways our Curated Program can implement better inclusivity.
4. Contribute to Strategic Change: Work closely with other Fringe staff and external consultants to turn lofty ideas into real and lasting change for the arts sector.
