About the Position

As Professor/Associate Professor of Architecture, you will lead and support the development and delivery of innovative educational programs in Architecture. The role is a senior position within CDU’s Academy of the Arts and the Faculty of Arts and Society. It requires a dynamic leader committed to academic excellence and strategic growth who can nurture a collegial learning and teaching environment for architectural design with strong industry connections.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a professional architect and will be expected to develop, promote, supervise, and teach into a range of Architectural programs utilizing both on-campus and flexible-modes of teaching and learning support.  The role is responsible for defining and implementing a vision for the discipline and for growing CDU’s reputation for high quality training in Architecture with relevance to sustainable design for conditions in northern Australia. The candidate will bring an outstanding national or international profile to leverage industry networks for maximum student engagement.

 

About You

To be successful, you will require:

  • A doctoral level qualification in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working at a similar level and within a related field of research/teaching.
  • A national or international reputation in Architecture reflected in a solid record of innovative and distinguished professional work and/or high-impact publications.
  • A record of securing competitive internal and external grants.
  • A record of excellence in course or unit design and teaching as evidenced in teaching evaluations, and through awards and/or prizes.
  • A broad network of relationships with key academic and professional partnerships.
  • Excellent professional teamwork and communication skills, including oral, written, information communication technology (ICT), and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring junior staff in relation to teaching and research.
  • An ability to teach key subjects in Architecture.
  • Ability to develop and use flexible/online computer-based learning materials to suit the needs of a diverse student body.
  • A willingness to assume leadership responsibilities within the Academy of the Arts, the Faculty of Arts and Society and the wider University community.
  • Attained international recognition as an eminent authority in Architecture through original, innovative and distinguished performance.
  • Demonstrable success in attracting competitive funding and other income, exceptional collaborations, and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of a university learning environment and equity programs and providing supportive education to people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds and varying age groups.
  • National and international recognition through awards and prizes or invitations to present at conferences, seminars and public talks.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body.

  

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Teaching Focused or Research Active Level D/E. The base salary will be in the range of $157,150 – $189,150 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $183,866 – $221,306 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
