- Salary 100k to 105k, plus statutory 11% super.

We’re seeking a super talented, creative and self-motivated Multimedia Producer & Trainer with a technical background in film, audio and/or broadcasting to join our incredible Media & Communications team. Reporting to the General Manager who leads the strategic and creative vision of all departments, the successful candidate will thrive with an adventurous and warm-hearted spirit. It is essential that the successful candidate maintain a holistic and supportive role within community and develop strong harmonious relationships with our external stakeholders. The Multimedia Producer & Trainer is responsible for managing the smooth operation and activities of P.A.W.’s newly established multimedia workspace in Lajamanu, this includes a radio broadcasting site and film and audio workspace, the position will also work with and liaise with our media departments and projects across the Tanami and focus on local engagement, recruitment and training of indigenous people.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive travel through Aboriginal Lands rarely visited by outsiders.
- Flexible 38hr schedule including evenings, extensive remote travel and occasional weekend work (additional hours negotiated with TOIL)

- Living in P.A.W. provided accommodation which could include sharing with other P.A.W. Staff from time to time. Housing in community is limited, so it will be necessary to be flexible with accommodation

ROLE DESCRIPTION
- Manage the day-to-day operations of P.A.W.’s radio broadcasting site and newly established multimedia office in Lajamanu, by providing opportunities for employment which includes technical and creative training in Film, Audio, Music, Radio & Podcasting
- Identify, produce and support the production of short films, music videos, social media content, live radio broadcasts and podcasts in response to community needs and interests
- Deliver a community focused Media and Creative Production plan for Lajamanu by developing and maintaining strong harmonious relationships with P.A.W.’s stakeholders
- Provide a fun and engaging environment for creative expression with deep respect for Indigneous culture and values
- Creatively and terchnically assist the P.A.W. team on larger film productions, documentaries, concerts and studio recordings
- Coordinate community engagement activities with external P.A.W. stakeholders and the Lajamanu working committee
- Support the P.A.W. team across the Tanamai with events, concerts and media activities including travel to remote communities, when required
- Work with management to establish long term strategies and creative vision, including establishing a recording studio, rehearsal space and robust workforce
- This position requires a strong creative leader with management experience and the ability to work a flexible 38hr schedule including evenings, remote travel and weekend work
- Other duties as required by Management
This role is very ‘hands-on’, with a community development focus and requires a level of technical and creative expertise in all facets of visual and audio content production, from budgeting and scheduling through to post-production. The Multimedia Producer & Trainer is responsible for the professional development and supervision of P.A.W.’s indigenous media workers with a strong focus on training and developing creative skills in various capacities.
In addition to creative and technical production work, the duties of the Multimedia Producer & Trainer include production budgeting and quoting, preparation of funding applications, business administration, project management, grant reporting and acquittals. The Multimedia Producer & Trainer will be required to supervise other skilled practitioners in a fun and engaging way and to manage and liaise with specialist contractors working in community.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Experience working cross culturally, preferably with indigenous Australians in remote settings
- Demonstrated experience in creatively producing content and training in multimedia including film, audio, music, radio, podcasting and social media
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of different video camera systems, formats and equipment typically used in location shooting including: Sony, Panasonic, Blackmagic, DJI Mavic drones, and action cams
- Demonstrated audio knowledge including field and music recording equipment, broadcasting & digital editing software
- Proficiency in professional multimedia software which could include: Pro Tools, Logic, Davinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere
- Demonstrated ability to write reports, manage budgets and resources effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated capacity for resourcefulness, self-motivation and independent decision making
- Capacity to live and work remotely with a small team
- Understanding of the political social and economic factors affecting Indigenous people
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence (Manual vehicle)
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Screen & Media Production qualifications – Cert IV or diploma level and above or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated, credited experience in producing radio stories, audio or cinematic documentary and/or online video production
- Experience living and working in a remote Australian Indigenous community
- 4WD experience
ABOUT P.A.W. MEDIA
P.A.W. Media and Communications is a Warlpiri owned and run Not-for-profit Organisation based in Yuendumu, Northern Territory. P.A.W. was originally established as ‘Warlpiri Media Association’ in 1983, but now trades under the name ‘P.A.W. Media and Communications’. The name ‘P.A.W.’ is an acronym that reflects the Pintubi, Anmatjere and Warlpiri language groups that are serviced by the organisation. For nearly 40 years P.A.W. has been creating award-winning TV, films, radio, and music, in language, according to local cultural protocols. In addition to creating local media productions and documenting local culture, P.A.W. provides media training, digital literacy programs and employment opportunities for the people of Lajamanu, Yuendumu and surrounding communities.
ABOUT THE LOCATION
Lajamanu has a fluctuating population of around 600 people, predominantly Warlpiri. One of the most remote communities in the Northern Territory, Lajamanu has a number of services available for the community, including a general store, health clinic, police station, post office, mechanic, school, airstrip and youth-engagement space. The community has recently had a waterpark developed, and has strong engagement with football and netball, with regional competitions taking place throughout the year. Lajamanu community has a long-standing history of music production, including the Lajamanu Teenage Band. It is the confidence of P.A.W. that the development of a recording studio, and access to general media equipment on country, will help support the creative aspirations of community members, as well as challenging external perspectives on indigenous Australia by giving the opportunity for community members to creatively share their own culture to the general public through music, video and radio productions.
