Marketing Content Specialist

Responsible for the delivery of content marketing strategies to maximise online presence, engage target audiences, and drive business growth and sales

Reports to: Head of Marketing & Communications

Works closely with: Head of Marketing & Communications, Marketing Specialist, design agency, PR agency, photography and videography contractors.

 

Position Summary

The Marketing Content Specialist plays a crucial role in driving the success of Malthouse Theatre’s marketing efforts and growing our audience through the delivery of engaging content across the company’s owned channels including social media and email. This role is primarily responsible for the delivery of content marketing strategies to maximise online presence, engage target audiences, and drive business growth and sales. The Marketing Content Specialist combines creative thinking with data-driven insights to achieve results in the ever-evolving landscape of marketing.

This is a full time (1.0 FTE) position based at Malthouse in Melbourne. Due to the nature of working for a theatre, some evening and weekend work may be required.

  • Core Competencies and Responsibilities  

    Social Media Content

    • Manage brand social media pages, including scheduling and publishing content across all channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok).
    • Brainstorm new and creative content marketing strategies that drive brand awareness, audience growth and ticket sales in close consultation with the Head of Marketing & Communications.
    • Create diverse content that’s shareable and engaging, including filming, editing and producing video and photography, alongside other content formats.
    • Write compelling short-form copy across all social media platforms.
    • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assesses against goals (ROI and KPIs).
    • Utilise strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and touch points.

    Communications & Email Marketing

    • Manage eDM strategy and delivery including writing and scheduling content and building subscriber lists.
    • Write, edit and proofread print and digital marketing collateral, and other internal and external communications assets and publications including digital programs and web pages.
    • Tailor messaging to each digital medium to drive audience development.
    • Ensure consistency across all materials in accordance with brand guidelines.
    • Monitor, update and arrange show listings across various print and online channels.
    • Collate copy, images and video for press, listings and media partners.

    Website Content

    • Maintain Malthouse’s website and intranet, and act as a primary gatekeeper for interdepartmental updates.
    • Maintain Malthouse’s archive and publishing website, Stories of M.
    • Assist the commercial development team to set up web pages for venue hirers.

    Cross Promotion

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with other arts and cultural organisation for the purpose of cross-promotional opportunities.

    Administrative Duties

    • Assist with opening nights, including coordinating invitations, RSVPs and ticket allocation.
    • Copyedit and proofread company publications.
    • Assist with the organisation and coordination of marketing events such as the Season Launch.
    • Provide administrative and project support for a variety of marketing programs as directed by the Head of Marketing & Communications.
    • Other duties as reasonably required.

    Key Selection Criteria

    The successful applicant will demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated success in a similar role.
  • A demonstrated interest in theatre and Melbourne’s performing arts community.
  • Experience managing social media channels such as Instagram and TikTok.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring fresh, executable ideas and approaches to digital content.
  • Confidence filming, editing and producing video, alongside other content formats.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience copywriting in a professional context.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and an ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • A highly collaborative working style and ability to work well in a team.
  • Inherent Physical Requirements

    The physical requirements of your position are consistent with those of an administrative worker in an office environment. The Malthouse Theatre administration office is located on Level Three of the Malthouse venue and is accessible by stairs.
