  • Step into a dynamic, creative leadership role at our flagship multi-arts centre Bunjil Place
  • Oversee a diverse performing arts program that delivers strong creative and community outcomes
  • Shape the future of the arts in the City of Casey and create a strong and vibrant legacy

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Performing Arts Programming to lead our Performing Arts Programming team at Bunjil Place. This pivotal leadership role is dedicated to curating an engaging program that inspires, educates, and entertains both at Bunjil Place and throughout the City of Casey.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for the performing arts and a proven ability to forge meaningful partnerships with artists, producers, festivals, and the broader performing arts community. A strong alignment with community values and council priorities, particularly in equity, inclusion, and audience engagement, is essential.

This role is perfect for an experienced performing arts producer or programmer who embodies professionalism, creative vision, and a collaborative spirit. You will be responsible for ensuring that Bunjil Place remains a cultural cornerstone, fostering excellence in programming while effectively managing day-to-day operations. Additionally, you will play a critical role in shaping the long-term artistic strategy, cultivating community connections, and achieving strategic outcomes through partnerships and advocacy.

We are looking for a candidate who excels in program planning and people leadership while sharing our commitment to continuous improvement, audience development, and support for Casey’s vibrant creative communities.

Join us during this exciting time as we elevate Bunjil Place’s profile as a premier venue for performing arts.

About Bunjil Place

Opened in 2017, Bunjil Place is a purpose-built arts and civic precinct designed by the renowned architectural studio fjmt. This award-winning centre features a major public art gallery, a multipurpose ‘black-box’ performance and exhibition space, a three-level library, an 800-seat theatre, an outdoor plaza, an urban screen, and a function centre.

The design draws inspiration from Bunjil, the creator spirit of the Kulin nation, who embodies the Wedge-tailed eagle in ancestral narratives. These creation stories convey essential knowledge, cultural values, and belief systems that connect traditions with the responsibilities of caring for Country.
