Gallery Sales Manager

This Aboriginal Art gallery based in Alice Springs is seeking a dynamic Gallery Sales Manager. Drive sales through exceptional customer service.

  • Location: This is Aboriginal Art. Gallery & Studio. Alice Springs
  • Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm
  • Annual Leave: 6 weeks
This Aboriginal Art gallery is seeking a dynamic Gallery Sales Manager to join our team. In this full-time role, you will represent contemporary Aboriginal art, drive sales, and provide exceptional customer service.  A great opportunity to sink your feet into the red sands of Alice Springs and its beautiful surrounds and liaise directly with artists in our vibrant on-site artist studio.  We are a close-knit team with a passion for supporting artists and growing the Aboriginal art industry. This is Aboriginal Art is a member of the Aboriginal Art Association of Australia. Our gallery is a busy two-storey gallery right in the heart of Alice Spring’s Todd Mall.  We run an artist studio onsite and take pride in showing customers the artists at work.  This is a once-in-lifetime opportunity to engage with the myriad of local desert cultures that make up Alice Springs, while expanding your own knowledge of Aboriginal art & culture.  Alice Springs has a great work/life balance offering an unsurpassed connection with nature right out your backdoor.  Go camping or hiking on weekends, discover the rich desert surrounds, and put a different emphasis on life.  This role is a good chance to escape the rat race while still engaging in your passion in a fun environment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with in-gallery customers and offer tailored advice on artworks.
    • This is your chance to spread an appreciation of one of the most contemporary art movements in the world – Aboriginal art – right from the heart of Australia where the movement was born.
  • Develop new wholesale avenues.
    • Liaise with galleries around Australia & the world. Keep and eye on trends and demands.
  • Ensuring the gallery is displayed well & stocked.
    • Curate hangs that display the paintings in their best light.
  • Order stock and liaise with suppliers and artists.
    • Meet a range of suppliers from art centre managers, the artists we work with directly, and merchandise producers.  Work closely with our studio manager.
  • Manage & create artwork documentation, invoicing, and answering customer inquiries.
    • Help draft the Dreamtime stories and biographies of these amazing artists with which we work.  
Required skills:
  • Proven sales experience is preferable but must have a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to learn about Aboriginal art (previous knowledge is a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Positive attitude, energetic, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
