Fashion Designer / Product Developer

Global Fashion House is an established and fast-growing women’s fashion wholesale company based in Surry Hills. An exciting opportunity exists for an exceptionally creative and talented Designer/Product developer to join our White Closet brand.

Our house brand ‘White Closet” is for lovers of natural fabrics and feminine silhouettes. This brand speaks to confident women who value versatility in their wardrobes. It offers pieces that are fit for the office, weekend drinks and intimate dinners. The styles are timeless, chic with a nod to the trends. The brand has a focus on using exclusively designed prints, for which White Closet has established a loyal customer following.

Reporting to the Design and Planning Manager you will lead the design direction creating captivating collections in line with the brands handwriting. This role is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Designer/Product Developer who can translate trends into unique, contemporary designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Forecasting and interpreting key trends that are true to the brand for the season.
  • Design and develop product with the brand aesthetic in time within the critical path.
  • Build colour palettes, source and develop fabric and trims, source and direct print concepts for development.
  • Recolouring and tweaking prints exclusive to the brand.
  • Effectively communicate with the production team on all aspects of product development.
  • Sample and fit approval to ensure quality standards are met for fit, fabric colours and trims.
  • Prepare style packs to be sent to the China office.
  • Create garment sketches with construction details.
  • Present trend/concept boards and colour palettes with key silhouettes.
  • Take full responsibility for brand KPI performance.
  • Style and coordinate photoshoots in conjunction with photographer.

To Be Successful You Will Have:

  • 1+ years experience in a fast-paced Womenswear Designer/Product developer role.
  • Thorough knowledge of textiles and garment construction across woven, jersey and true knit garments.
  • Eye for detail, fashion forward and a love for all things fashion.
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Highly organises, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines and be self-managed.
  • Computer literacy in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. To include print re-colouring, basic print amendments and CAD drawings.
  • Computer literacy in desktop products, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power point)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a team player.
