Expression of Interest - Emerging Theatre Practitioners
For more than five decades, Queensland Theatre has been bringing people together through the unique ability of live theatre. We collaborate with an extraordinary range of artists and arts workers and in 2024 we continue to champion Queensland artists, stories, and communities, creating access to opportunities to learn, create, perform and participate.
To bring our stories to life on stage, Queensland Theatre employs multi-disciplinary production teams comprising a range of roles to plan, build and run our theatre shows. These teams include:
§ technical roles in lighting, sound, vision, automation and special effects;
§ making roles in props, set building, scenic artwork, costume making and costume artwork;
§ planning roles in production coordination and production management; and
§ show roles in stage management, staging, wardrobe and as theatre technicians.
Opportunity
With a commitment to supporting the professional development of aspiring theatre practitioners, Queensland Theatre, based in Brisbane, is offering a training program for two early-career arts/theatre workers or workers with skills in the range of disciplines or roles outlined above, who want to develop their skills in the performing arts and the delivery of live performance.
The program includes two paid placements on either a full-time or a part-time (a minimum of 20 hours per week) basis over six months to gain on-the-job knowledge and experience in the planning, making and running of live theatre productions.

Please note: working hours for the training program may be irregular due to the nature of the role and the work, with some evening and possibly, weekend work required.
