ABOUT QMUSIC
QMusic is the peak body for the music sector in Queensland, a not-for-profit dedicated to securing the future of an industry that delivers artistic, cultural, social and economic value to Queensland.
With ongoing funding commitments from the state and federal government and partnerships with local government authorities across our state, we run a series of programs and events focused on building community, music industry capacity, market growth and artistic development.  
We provide powerful platform events to showcase Australian talent to audiences here and around the globe, all the while acting as a key advocate for the sector and investing in the grassroots of music across our state.
Key events include BIGSOUND, the largest music industry event in the southern hemisphere, the Queensland Music Awards, our state-wide skills and capacity building program QMusic Industry Connect, Queensland Parliamentary Friends, as well as festivals including Valley Fiesta, and awards such as the Billy Thorpe Scholarship, the Grant McLennan Fellowship, the Carol Lloyd Award and the Dennis ‘Mop’ Conlon Scholarship. 
POSITION SUMMARY
QMusic seeks a broadly skilled accountant or financial manager to join our team as Director of Finance & Administration, as we support the growth of a thriving live and recorded music industry in Queensland. You will be responsible for the sound financial management of QMusic by maintaining the financial records and providing accurate and timely financial reports, analysis, and recommendations to assist effective corporate governance and decision making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation including:
- Managing Accounts Receivable, invoicing customers and investigating outstanding items
- Managing Accounts Payable, recording bills, ensuring bills are approved and within budget and handing supplier payments
- Recording other income and expenses and ensuring outgoings are within budgets
- Processing payroll fortnightly
- Reconciliation of bank accounts
- Maintain Asset Register
- Preparation of journals.
Ensure compliance and legislative requirements are met regarding:
- Monthly IAS / PAYG lodgement
- Quarterly BAS lodgement
- Single Touch Payroll
- Superannuation
- FairWork
- WorkCover
- Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC)
- Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
- Office of Fair Trading
- Any other compliance matters.
- Manage relationship with the bank, maintain authorisations, debit cards and term deposits.
- Liaising with insurers to negotiate insurance arrangements and update as required.
- Completion of annual audit including liaising with external auditors and reporting to the Management Committee.
- Keep up to date with changes in taxation, employment, superannuation and other relevant finance areas.
Reporting
- Provide updates and reports to the CEO as requested.
- Review financial data and prepare monthly reports for the CEO and Treasurer / Management Committee.
- Provide financial information for acquittal of grant monies to funding bodies.
- Report to ACNC re organisation and Public Fund (charity).
Budgets
- Develop, review and update organisation budget with CEO.
- Assist senior staff in preparing budgets for the organisation and individual projects.
- Review, monitor and report on the organisation’s performance against budgets.
Human Resources
- Prepare staff employment agreements, extensions and revisions.
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding process.
- Monitor staff employment conditions against agreed conditions and statutory requirements.
- Ensure requirements of FairWork and Awards are met.
General
- Work collaboratively with all members of the QMusic team and ensure open and clear communication is maintained across the organisation.
- Contribute to and participate in senior management strategy meetings and staff meetings.
- Review and develop contracts regarding employment, sponsors, suppliers, venues, artists, speakers, QMusic awards, etc. Consider risks and protections and make recommendations.
- Undertake any work-related tasks as reasonably requested by the QMusic CEO.
- Attend QMusic events and functions as required.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Registered Chartered Accountant or completed an Accounting degree and ideally have 3 years + experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of the Australian Accounting Standards and financial reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of Deductible Gift Recipient rules including ATO and ACNC requirements is beneficial.
- Experience in delivering a full range of accounting services including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Superannuation, BAS preparation, reconciliations and report preparation.
- Payroll knowledge – Pay runs, Super, Leave entitlements, WorkCover, Fair Work, Awards, Contractor Super, Staff policies, etc.
- Strong understanding of contracts, ability to highlight concerns and provide recommendations.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Experience using Xero is preferable.
- Experience using Employment Hero (HR platform) is preferable.
- Experience using Calxa and Approvalmax preferable.
- Strong Excel skills are required as well as knowledge of Office 365 software suite.
- Experience using Airtable is beneficial
KEY RELATIONSHIPS   
Internal: QMusic Management Committee, CEO and staff.
External: Funding bodies, Sponsors, Donors, Contractors, Suppliers, Bank and Auditors.

It is expected employees will be respectful towards the organisation, colleagues, clients and public, act collaboratively with all colleagues and act in safe and responsible manner at all times.  
Flexible work hours will be required for occasional weekend and evening events.
